Chapter Philanthropy & Service
In addition to national partners, collegiate chapters also support local causes through philanthropic fundraising and hands-on service on their campuses and in their local communities.
Fleece and Thank You
Oakland Universities Alpha Sigma Tau chapter teamed up with Fleece and Thank you to make over 30 blankets for sick children. Fleece and Thank you is an incredible locally started foundation giving back to children when they need it the most. AST women know that giving back is always important especially when it comes to children. We were happy to pair with this incredible foundation to do our part in brightening a child’s day. We look forward to our next collaboration with Fleece and Thank you.
Every year active and alumni sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau help out at Focus hope. This year we filled boxes for their local food program, which gives back to local families needing assistance. The sisters worked hard to fill as many boxes as possible making it so a few less people are hungry in our area.
Smash your Finals with AST
For the first time Alpha Sigma Tau Delta Tau hosted an end of the year philanthropy event by the clock tower at Oakland University. Sisters volunteered to have water balloons thrown at them all in the name of philanthropy. Our chapter donated all of the money raised to Alzheimer’s awareness. We believe there’s never too much fun to be had when it comes to philanthropy.
Other Service Events
Another annual service project that Alpha Sigma Tau does is to participate in the Center for Student Activities' Make a Difference Day and MLK Day of Service.
Our sisters also volunteer on Oakland's campus! Our sisters volunteer every year at Freshman Move-in, to help all the new students move into the residence halls. Alpha Sigma Taus also volunteer at Orientation Part 2 which helps incoming students learn more about their major that they are going into as well as Jump Start, to further help new students.
Annual Philanthropy: Dancing with the Taus
Alpha Sigma Tau hosted our first ever dancing with the Taus on April 6th. The money raised will go towards our local philanthropy Haven and our national philanthropy the pine mountain settlement school. We had over 150 people attend our event raising over $1500 for our philanthropies. The night was filled with dancing, commentary, prizes and philanthropy.
